Kantha stitching is a cherished Bengali tradition that has been handed down through generations. This craft involves embroidering intricate patterns onto fabric to create beautiful designs. Often, these designs are repetitive, as seen in our Kantha Saree Covers.

The essence of the kantha technique lies in its rows of stitches, which can be arranged in straight lines or curves to embellish clothing, sarees, or throws. Our saree covers feature straight rows of stitches crafted with contrasting colored threads, adding a unique and vibrant touch.

The patterns of our covers are varied as the fabric is upcycled and repurposed from the fabric industry in Bangladesh. Made of cotton, the covers are "back or front", with different colourways on each side. Patches are used to join pieces of fabrics so you will find small and larger patches combined to make up the cover.

There are hundred and hundreds of little kentha stiches that keep the fabric / sides together. Machine wash gentle or hand wash when needed.

The spelling "saree" is based on the Hindi language, which is the official language of India and one of the official languages of Bangladesh. In Hindi, the word for saree is spelled "साड़ी" (saari), which is transliterated as "saree" in English. In Bengali, the word for saree is spelled "শাড়ি" (pronounced as shaari), and its English equivalent is "sari" or "saree".
